The latter is well below even my shabby standards.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure there&#8217;s a whole lot more to say. Oh, except that for the season, I&#8217;m now 82-50-2 (.619) straight up, and 61-67-6 (.477) against the spread.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s see if I can flip the weekly results below the .500 threshold this week.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what not to expect.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"Carolina Panthers web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.panthers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carolina<\/a> (+3.5) at <a title=\"Pittsburgh Steelers web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.steelers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pittsburgh<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong>I&#8217;m pretty sure the Panthers are the better team in this match. But not by much. Certainly not by enough to move me to take the road team in a Thursday night game. Steelers by a field goal.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"Buffalo Bills web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.buffalobills.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Buffalo<\/a> (+6.5) at <a title=\"New York Jets web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorkjets.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NY Jets<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong>I&#8217;m not convinced this actually qualifies as a professional football game. Jets win 9-0.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong title=\"Atlanta Falcons web site\"><a title=\"Atlanta Falcons web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.atlantafalcons.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atlanta<\/a><\/strong> (-4) at <a title=\"Cleveland Browns web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clevelandbrowns.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cleveland<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong>Wasn&#8217;t one of these teams supposed to be good this season? Falcons by a point.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"New Orleans Saints web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.neworleanssaints.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Orleans<\/a> (-5.5) at <a title=\"Cincinnati Bengals web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bengals.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cincinnati<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong>The 5-3 Bengals are going 4-4 down the stretch. This is the first of two straight losses to start them down that path. Saints by 13.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"Washington Redskins web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.redskins.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Washington<\/a> (+3) at <strong title=\"Tampa Bay Buccanneers web site\"><a title=\"Tampa Bay Buccanneers web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.buccaneers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tampa Bay<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Have the Buccaneers sprouted a defense? No? Good to know. Racists by a touchdown.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"New England Patriots web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.patriots.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New England<\/a> (-6.5) at <a title=\"Tennessee Titans web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.titansonline.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tennessee<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong>Big three predictive stats first: Scoring differential, Patriots +4.2; passer rating differential, Patriots +9.8; takeaway-giveaway differential, Patriots +5. That would point to Patriots victory even if the Titans weren&#8217;t a significantly unbalanced team. And the Titans are a significantly unbalanced team. New England by 10.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"Jacksonville Jaguars web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jaguars.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jacksonville<\/a> (+3) at <strong title=\"Indianapolis Colts web site\"><a title=\"Indianapolis Colts web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.colts.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indianapolis<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Imagine going from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/gamecenter\/2018091612\/2018\/REG2\/patriots@jaguars\">Super Bowl LII.125 champions<\/a> in week two to getting three points in the battle for the AFC South basement in week 10. Quite a tumble for the Jaguars, wouldn&#8217;t you say? Colts by six.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"Detroit Lions web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.detroitlions.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Detroit<\/a> (+6.5) at <a title=\"Chicago Bears web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagobears.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong>I&#8217;d say that if the Lions can&#8217;t find a way to win this one, they can call it a season if it weren&#8217;t for the fact that the Lions already have called it a season. Bears by 14.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong title=\"Arizona Cardinals web site\"><a title=\"Arizona Cardinals web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.azcardinals.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arizona<\/a><\/strong> (+16.5) at <strong title=\"Kansas City Chiefs web site\"><a title=\"Kansas City Chiefs web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kcchiefs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kansas City<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>For one week, it will look like the Chiefs have a defense. Kansas City by three touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong title=\"San Diego Chargers web site\"><a title=\"San Diego Chargers web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chargers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LA Chargers<\/a><\/strong> (-10) at <a title=\"Oakland Raiders web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.raiders.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oakland<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong>It will <em>not<\/em> look like the Raiders have a defense. It would be almost impossible to make it look like the Raiders have a defense. Chargers keep it on the ground all day, mercifully speeding up the game, but also limiting their margin of victory. Los Angeles by nine.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"Miami Dolphins web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.miamidolphins.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Miami<\/a> (+9.5) at <a title=\"Green Bay Packers web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.packers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Green Bay<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong>The Packers are 0-2 since returning from their bye. They&#8217;re 3-4-1 on the season and facing consecutive road games in Seattle and Minnesota in weeks 11 and 12. If they don&#8217;t win here, they&#8217;re done. The good news for Green Bay (however short-lived it may prove) is that they&#8217;re winning here. Packers by seven.<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong title=\"Seattle Seahawks web site\"><a title=\"Seattle Seahawks web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.seahawks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seattle<\/a><\/strong> (+9.5) at <a title=\"St. Louis Rams web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.therams.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LA Rams<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong>The Rams have pretty much sewn up the NFC West. Their win here won&#8217;t make it official, but it might as well. Rams by 10.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"Dallas Cowboys web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dallascowboys.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dallas<\/a> (+7) at <a title=\"Philadelphia Eagles web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.philadelphiaeagles.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philadelphia<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong>The Eagles have had their struggles this season, and I expect those to continue down the stretch. But the Cowboys are in a full-on tailspin. Philadelphia by six.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"New York Giants web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.giants.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NY Giants<\/a> (+3) at<\/strong> <strong><a title=\"San Francisco 49ers web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.49ers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">San Francisco<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nOh, cool.
