I&#8217;ll take it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was right on 11 of 16 games picking straight up last weekend, and on eight against the spread. That lands me at 23-8-1 (.734) straight up and 16-15-1 (.516) on the young season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the really good news is that 14 weeks is a lot of time for me to get way worse at this. Should kick in right around the time I start to think I know something \u00e2\u20ac\u201d maybe two weeks from now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s what not to expect in week three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.titansonline.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tennessee<\/a><\/strong><strong>\u00c2\u00a0(-1.5) at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jaguars.com\" target=\"_blank\">Jacksonville<\/a> <\/strong><br>Here&#8217;s where the Jaguars finally get a win. It&#8217;s pretty much guaranteed. What makes me so sure? Simple: I always pick the Thursday night games wrong. And I&#8217;m expecting the Titans to win by a field goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.denverbroncos.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Denver<\/a><\/strong> <strong>(+7.5) at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.packers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Green Bay<\/a><\/strong><br>Every time the Broncos take the field, the Ravens end up looking that much smarter. Green Bay by nine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.detroitlions.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Detroit<\/a> (+6) at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.philadelphiaeagles.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Philadelphia<\/a><\/strong><br>I&#8217;d take the home team in this match no matter which it was. Eagles by three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.baltimoreravens.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Baltimore<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0(+6.5) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kcchiefs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kansas City<\/a><\/strong><br>Although their stats indubitably are skewed by the fact that they faced weak opposition in their first two games, I think the Ravens are the more complete, more balanced team. Were this game being played in Baltimore, I&#8217;d be sorely tempted to pick them. But it&#8217;s in Kansas City, so I&#8217;ll just look for the Ravens to make it interesting. Chiefs by a point. At the buzzer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bengals.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cincinnati<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0(+6) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.buffalobills.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Buffalo<\/a><\/strong><br>Sooner or later, the Bills are going to have to face a good opponent. &#8230; Wait, what&#8217;s that again? Oh, OK. &#8230; <em>Next week<\/em>, the Bills are gong to have to face a good opponent. But next week isn&#8217;t this week, is it? Buffalo by seven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.atlantafalcons.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Atlanta<\/a> (+1.5) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.colts.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Indianapolis<\/a><\/strong><br>Hey, look, the Colts are playing a home game! That&#8217;s novel. Indy by a field goal (yes, an <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Adam Vinatieri (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nfl.com\/player\/adamvinatieri\/2503471\/profile\" target=\"_blank\">Adam Vinatieri<\/a> field goal).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.raiders.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Oakland<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0(+9) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vikings.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Minnesota<\/a> <\/strong><br>Which one of these teams is more uneven? Why it&#8217;s the Raiders, of course. Though maybe not by quite as much as one might be temped to think. Vikings by six. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorkjets.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">NY Jets<\/a> (+22) at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.patriots.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">New England<\/a> <\/strong><br>Maybe the only thing stranger than seeing a 22-point spread on an NFL game is figuring it&#8217;s pretty safe to give the points. The Patriots outscored their first two opponents this season by a combined 76-3. And <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"ne of those teams  (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/gamecenter\/2019090812\/2019\/REG1\/steelers@patriots\" target=\"_blank\">one of those teams <\/a>not only had a quarterback (at the time), but a decent team around him. New England by 36.5. (And the Jets front office asks the musical question, &#8220;We fired Todd Bowles for what exactly?&#8221;)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.miamidolphins.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Miami<\/a> (+22) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dallascowboys.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dallas<\/a> <\/strong><br>You almost get the feeling that Vegas doesn&#8217;t think very highly of certain AFC East teams. The Dolphins were outscored 102-10 in their first two games. They were home games. Cowboys by as many as they want. But for the purposes of this prediction, let&#8217;s figure the margin comes out at something like 51.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.giants.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">NY Giants<\/a> (+6.5) at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.buccaneers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tampa Bay<\/a><\/strong><br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/27636024\/giants-bench-eli-elevate-jones-starting-qb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"New quarterback (opens in a new tab)\">New quarterback<\/a>, same old struggles for New Jersey. Bucs by seven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.panthers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Carolina<\/a><\/strong> <strong>(+1.5) at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.azcardinals.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Arizona<\/a><\/strong><br>You might have heard this, but quarterback is kind of an important position in football. Cardinals by three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.neworleanssaints.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">New Orleans<\/a> (+4) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.seahawks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Seattle<\/a><\/strong><br>See immediately above. Seahawks by six.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.houstontexans.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Houston<\/a> (+3) at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chargers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">LA Chargers<\/a><\/strong><br>I don&#8217;t know. I think the Texans are a bit better than anyone seems to realize. Houston by three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.steelers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pittsburgh<\/a><\/strong> <strong>(+6.5) at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.49ers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">San Francisco<\/a><\/strong><br>I&#8217;ve got a feeling the Steelers are going to end up being a fairly strong team before this season is out. But not quite yet. But the Racists are a misfortune headed for a disaster.
