That feels pretty OK.  The 7-7 vs. the spread? Meh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m at 71-34-1 (.675) straight up so far this season, 53-52-1 (.505) with the points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A correction to that slightly better than average straight up record no doubt is just around the corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s what not to expect in week eight<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.redskins.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Washington<\/a> (+16.5) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vikings.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Minnesota<\/a><\/strong><br>Not much to stay up for here, I&#8217;m afraid. Unless you&#8217;re a Vikings fan. In which case, enjoy. The good news for the rest of us is that given the Racists&#8217; complete inability to so much as slow down the run and the run-first offensive philosophy of the Vikings, we can probably expect the ball to stay on the ground and the game clock to keep ticking. Minnesota by 21. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.denverbroncos.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Denver<\/a> (+5.5) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.colts.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Indianapolis<\/a><\/strong><br>I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ll know what I really think of the Colts until at least week 12. Fortunately, I already know what I think of the Broncos. The Denver D might yet have some pride, though. Colts by a field goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.giants.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">NY Giants<\/a> (+7) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.detroitlions.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Detroit<\/a><\/strong><br>The Lions might not be able to find a way to disappoint themselves and their fans this week. That could be at least one semi-interesting thing about this came. Or not. I don&#8217;t know. Detroit by four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.buccaneers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tampa Bay<\/a> (+2.5) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.titansonline.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tennessee<\/a><\/strong><br>This is &#8230; well, it&#8217;s a game that&#8217;s probably going to happen. I mean, I&#8217;m not sure there&#8217;s anything anyone can do to stop it. I guess Tennessee sort of has a defense. Titans by three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chargers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">LA Chargers<\/a> (+4) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagobears.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chicago<\/a><\/strong><br>One of these teams is going to have to get out of its own way this week. Since the home team is probably the better team (though not by much), I gonna guess it&#8217;s them. Bears by a point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.seahawks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Seattle<\/a> (-6.5) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.atlantafalcons.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Atlanta<\/a><\/strong><br>The Seahawks have enough offense to win the NFC West if they can figure out how to play D. The Falcons have a draft to prepare for. Seattle by nine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorkjets.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">NY Jets<\/a> (+6) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jaguars.com\" target=\"_blank\">Jacksonville<\/a><\/strong><br>The fiasco on <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Monday night (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/gamecenter\/2019102100\/2019\/REG7\/patriots@jets\" target=\"_blank\">Monday night<\/a> felt like the kind of game that ends up putting a team on its heels for weeks. The Jaguars aren&#8217;t the Patriots. But right now it seems like Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde could probably get the job done against <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pac-Sam Darnold (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nfl.com\/player\/samdarnold\/2561036\/profile\" target=\"_blank\">Pac-Sam Darnold<\/a>. Jacksonville by seven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.philadelphiaeagles.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Philadelphia<\/a> (+1.5) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.buffalobills.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Buffalo<\/a><\/strong><br>This seems like everyone&#8217;s pet upset pick of the week. Like maybe everyone saw the Bills get off to a slow start <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/gamecenter\/2019102001\/2019\/REG7\/dolphins@bills\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"against the Dolphins (opens in a new tab)\">against the Dolphins<\/a> last week and concluded Buffalo maybe isn&#8217;t that good. And maybe they&#8217;re not. But I think they&#8217;re better than the Eagles. Bills by a field goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bengals.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cincinnati<\/a> (+13) vs. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.therams.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">LA Rams<\/a> at Wembley Stadium, London<\/strong><br>No one needs me to tell them the Bengals are awful, right? Rams by 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.azcardinals.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Arizona<\/a> (+10.5) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.neworleanssaints.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">New Orleans<\/a><\/strong><br>For the last three weeks, the Cardinals slipped past weak opponents. Now they return to NFL play. Saints by 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.panthers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Carolina<\/a> (+5.5) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.49ers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">San Francisco<\/a><\/strong><br>There&#8217;s a chance the 49ers give this one away by committing turnovers at exactly the wrong times. But it&#8217;s only an outside chance. I&#8217;m not picking based on maybes. San Francisco by nine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.raiders.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Oakland<\/a> (+6.5) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.houstontexans.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Houston<\/a><\/strong><br>A second straight road game, and a second straight road loss, for the Raiders. Texans by four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clevelandbrowns.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cleveland<\/a> (+13) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.patriots.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">New England<\/a><\/strong><br>Thirteen, huh? Seems reasonable. I mean, look, here are your big three predictive stats: Passer rating differential, Patriots +47.2; scoring differential, Patriots +15.4; takeaway-giveaway differential, Patriots +20. In Cleveland, maybe that points to a margin of victory of less than two TDs. Maybe. In Foxborough, it points to a massacre. And that&#8217;s even before you drill down a bit and get to this detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"406\" height=\"433\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thisfootballblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Screen-Shot-2019-10-24-at-3.12.52-PM-e1571944480742.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-714\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s not a whole lot of room for hope here if you&#8217;re a Browns fan. Patriots by 27<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.packers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Green Bay<\/a> (-4) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kcchiefs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kansas City<\/a><\/strong><br>When you&#8217;re all offense and suddenly you&#8217;ve got <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"maybe two thirds of a quarterback (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/sports\/spt-columns-blogs\/for-petes-sake\/article236596848.html\" target=\"_blank\">maybe two thirds of a quarterback<\/a>, you&#8217;ve got yourself a problem. Packers by six.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.miamidolphins.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Miami<\/a> (+14) at<\/strong> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.steelers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pittsburgh<\/a><\/strong><br>Somebody at some point thought this game belonged in prime time. That&#8217;s curious.
